MATERIALS:

           3” X 10” wood base with groove                                                                                                                                             

Weavers and Spokes:                                                        Rim: 3/8” Flat Oval

                                    3/8” Flat                                                     11/64” Flat Oval or cane

                                    11/64” Flat Oval                                                      No.1 Seagrass

                                    1” Ash

                                    7mm Flat

                                    No.2 Round Reed

 

Spokes:  3/8” Flat, cut 36 @ 6”             

 

 

 

 

Directions: Insert the spokes into the groove of the base evenly.  

Chase weave 2 rows.

5 rows Ό” F.O. ( I place the basket on it’s side to make it weave easier)

1 row 1” ash

3 rows 11/64” F.O.

1 row 7mm Flat (under rim)

Pack rows of weaving down.  Cut and tuck spokes.

 

Rim inside basket with 3/8” Flat and 3/8” F.O. outside rim.

 

Rim:  Measure and cut ½” rim overlapping ends for 3”. Trim down overlap.  Measure a piece of No.1 Seagrass for filler.  Lace with 11/64” Flat around basket, then reverse, forming “X”’s.
